Chris' Charity Ride

Why?

Hello my name is Chris Jones, and along with my great friend Steve Waddilove we are hoping to raise in excess of £10.000 to be divided between Cancer Research and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd. This is being done in memory of my dear wife Lisa, who lost her battle with bowel cancer on 29th August 2008 at the age of 42, a life cut short by an all too common disease.

We read stories in the press every now and again about someone having their cancer put into remission, but it is sad to say that these are only the few success stories and many more people are dying from bowel cancer than we read are being given prolonged life. Lisa survived nearly 2 years after being diagnosed, and most of that time was spent under treatment and 2 major lifesaving operations, the last one leaving her with an ileostomy. 8 months later she passed away at The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.

Well that’s the background to our cause, now to inform you what we are going to do to raise this money.

We are going to visit 43 Anglican Cathedrals in England on Motorcycles in 7 Days. That means an average of 6 Cathedrals a day and a total mileage of around 1900 miles. We will start from Chester Cathedral on May 2nd 2009 and start our journey to visit the 43 Cathedrals in all four ‘corners’ of England, the furthest north at Carlisle, and the furthest south being Truro, and return to Chester Cathedral on the 8th May 2009.

All we ask is that you may be able to sponsor us in some way, be it a financial donation, or help in donating equipment/resources needed to help us fulfil our goal.

To donate money then this can be done online by clicking on the ‘Donations’ link.

To donate equipment please contact us via email donate@carpe-diem.org.uk

Our website also gives you more information via links to both Charities that we are raising money for.

Kind Regards
